Our Organization
We believe vision care should never be out of reach for a child.
Our Mission
Eye Care from the Heart was founded by Dr. Inna Lazar after witnessing a troubling reality in her own community: many children in Greenwich were struggling in school simply because they could not see clearly. For some families, the cost of comprehensive eye care, prescription glasses, or specialized treatment placed necessary care out of reach. What began as offering free and reduced-cost care to children in need quickly grew into a larger mission to ensure that no child falls behind due to untreated vision problems. Eye Care from the Heart
Today, Eye Care from the Heart works to bridge the gap in access to pediatric vision care by providing comprehensive eye exams, prescription glasses, and advanced treatments for conditions such as myopia progression and binocular vision disorders. Through partnerships with community programs like the Greenwich Lions KidSight screenings, thousands of local students are evaluated each year so vision issues can be detected early and treated properly. Eye Care from the Heart
Our goal is simple but powerful: to give every child the ability to see clearly, learn confidently, and reach their full potential. By removing financial barriers and providing high-quality medical eye care, Eye Care from the Heart helps children gain the visual foundation they need to succeed both in school and in life.
What We’ve Achieved
2,600+ children screened in local schools
221 students referred for professional care
Advanced eye exams and treatments provided to children in need
Partnership with Greenwich Lions KidSight to expand early detection
Since its founding, Eye Care from the Heart has worked to identify and treat vision problems in children across the Greenwich community. Through a partnership with the Greenwich Lions KidSight program, the organization has helped bring early vision screening directly into local schools, ensuring children with potential vision issues are identified as early as possible. During the 2024–2025 school year alone, more than 2,600 students were screened, providing critical early detection for children who may otherwise have gone without care. Eye Care from the Heart
From those screenings, 221 children were referred for professional eye care, many of whom required further evaluation and treatment. These children often struggle with conditions that can directly impact learning and development, including myopia, hyperopia, astigmatism, and binocular vision disorders. Through Eye Care from the Heart, children are able to receive comprehensive eye examinations, prescription glasses, and specialized treatments such as myopia control or binocular vision therapy—care that might otherwise be inaccessible for some families. Eye Care from the Heart
By identifying vision problems early and providing access to advanced care, Eye Care from the Heart is helping children gain the clear vision they need to read, focus, and succeed both in school and in life.
